In the fast-moving milieu of Madison Avenue, social drinking is almost an occupational necessity & one that fast-rising young Joe Clay adopts with too ready ease.
Decades before the stylish and wildly popular escapades of Don Draper and the gang at Sterling Cooper captivated viewers, JP Miller’s The Days Of Wine And Roses introduced audiences to the world of these ‘Mad Men’ with a riveting 1958 teleplay starring a young Cliff Robertson and Piper Laurie. A few years later it would be a major motion picture from director Blake Edwards, and star Jack Lemmon, Lee Remick and Charles Bickford.
Join us at Hart House starting May 9 as Renascent presents The Days Of Wine And Roses...featuring an ultra talented cast of actors in recovery!
The entire project is the brainchild of actor/director Jeff Peller. Jeff is also a long time teacher of acting and was the Artistic Director at The Actors’ Studio of Canada for 13 years. A natural entrepreneur, he founded the critically revered Redmill Theatre in Hamilton. A passionate and dedicated 12-stepper himself, Jeff has been clean and sober since January 4, 2006.
Collectively, our director and cast have decades of successful sobriety to their credit. This entertaining production will show that, not only is recovery the often overlooked flip side to addiction, but without a doubt, those in recovery can get better. In fact, they can get “better than better” as Jeff likes to say.
